Nova instance block device performance tuning using iothreads

Block device IO performance can be substantially improved by employing libvirtd iothreards to handle tasks regarding IO operations. In this presentation, we’ll discuss the problem with poor IO performance we stumbled upon in an OpenStack deployment and how it could be resolved via a patch to Nova to make its instances use libvirtd iothreards to offload IO tasks and improve block IO performance.
